Leave Barry Alone

Honestly, what did Barry Bonds do to you.

Before I go on, yes, I am about to defend a player that has abused my favorite team for year. (64 career home runs)

So, let's assume the worst. Let's say he used steroids. Let's say he's a butthole to the media. Let's say he cheated on his wife. Let's say he cheated on his taxes.

All that being said, he's easily the greatest baseball player I've ever seen. I'm not going to get into the numbers, because they aren't the story.

My problem comes with people who harbor some deep hatred for someone they don't know. Barry used steroids, but so many other people have too. MLB wasn't testing for them, in fact, they pretty much encouraged it as they saw fans come to the yard in record numbers because of all the home runs being hit. I'm sorry, but I just can't respect a person who pays money to boo someone simply based on the fact they may have taken steroids.

I've booed Barry Bonds before, but that's because he single-handedly knocked my boys out of the playoffs year after year. I could care less about what he does when he's not on the field, but when on the field, Barry is the best player I will likely ever witness. So for that, I appreciate.

Birthday Recap

These last couple of weeks have been BUSY. I'll start my storytelling last week.

Thursday: was my birthday, which means I went out, but not before spending the day at the beach. I love the beach, so it was nice since I hadn't been a lot this summer. Then, in the evening, I went to Cinespace for Club Entice. I had a pretty fun time, since people hooked it up with beverages the entire evening and I met a very nice young lady who I have yet to call...(is it too late to call?).

Saturday: I spent another day at the beach, this time for my aunt's birthday, and had another really good time. Then, in the evening, I decided it would be a good idea to supplement my usual laughs with the presence of naked women, so some of my friends and i went to a strip club that will remain nameless. A lot of the young ladies were pretty good looking, but the girls who I came with felt really uncomfortable the whole time and I can't figure out why.

Next week: I spent most of the next week in Santa Clara. That was a lot of fun. I was able to see a lot of my friends, and saw The Simpsons movie, which actually wasn't very good. I also hung around in San Fransisco for a day, which was a lot of fun.

Kanye's Best Guest Appearance

So a few years ago, I used to listen to "Last Call" all the time, and would really wonder why people thought Kanye couldn't rap. Sure, he doesn't do a lot that makes you say wow, but he puts together solid verses.

Off the top of my head:
They Say (Common)
Get By (Remix) (Talib Kweli)
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (Consequence)
Wouldn't Get Far (The Game)
Selfish (Slum Village)
Still Dreaming (Nas)
We Can Make It Better (Rhymefest, etc.)
Gettin It In (Jadakiss)
Extravaganza (Jamie Foxx)

I have no clue which one to pick. Thoughts?

I Don't Believe, What I Just Saw ...

- Vin Scully.
have fun with that one.

My hiatus in pics.

Read into it.

Two Words

Observations -
1. Jordan is wearing 45 ... not something he did a lot.
2. Those Xs are nice. They're my least favorite Jordan, but MJ makes them work.

So basically what I'm trying to say is that "I'm back"
Instead of going Jay/Encore or even Kanye/Grammy Family, I decided that Mike would make it most appropriate. Don't ask me how I figured this, because it's a dumb reason.

I met this girl, December oh six.
Before the ice, before the deal.
I knew she liked me, not because she told me,
But because of that one time with the football game.
So when you asked me to be YOUR boyfriend, I knew I had done something right.

You were, MY girl.
Through all of the great things that I can think about senior year.
We went to two proms together, and two two sets of incredibly wack pictures
Yet both nights ended anything but wack *wink*
I brought you flowers, made you chocolate covered strawberries,
gave you massages at our spot, took you to Disneyland, we went to Dodger games,
we did everything together.

I left for school, and seemingly forgot about you.
I had my own agenda, I wanted to do MY thing.
I messed up, big time.
We didn't speak for months, I always wondered about you.

Then summer came, we hung out.
You were not interested in me at all.
You had a "crush" on him and wanted to see where that went first.
I sat back and waited for you to come back around.

When you said you didn't want to talk to me again, I knew I had you where I wanted you.
So, while it pisses me off that you never tell me how much you like me, just knowing that you feel that way is good to know.

When I first went to school, I was afraid of losing you. Now, I'm not.
I love you, you love me. What's meant to be will be. I'm going to do my best me.
[jay-z] stay busy, stay working [/jay-z]

So, to the one I love with all my heart.
Don't worry about me, I don't want anyone else but you.
Get money, get to NY, set some more goals, damn sure you'll achieve them.
Don't worry about where I am, because I'm always here for you.

HBD, Ham

If I recall accurately, this foolio (his word) was in my first ever class in high school. Back when I was more annoying. Either way, it's been a long time since then.

So from Wells, to Dawson, to the Grove w/ Roxy, to Fape Hoodies, to the legendary roundtable, to getyo.blogspot.com

One love (c) Nas

Happy birfday nucca!

The One Hundredth Post...

What should it be dedicated to? Money? Hot girls? Clothing? Music? Shameless ramblings about all that is wrong with the world? Politics? Hot Girls? Fine Food? Travel? Nostalgia? Sports? My frustrations with one of my many daily annoyances? No, i don't think any of those things are appropriate... I'll dedicate this one to... Shoes.

I'm convinced that Nike has found some way to put crack into their shoe linings... which is why I can't stop buying them. Throughout the summer, I will be telling the stories of many a nike I have come across in my day.

... On My Mind

About now you are expecting a Lil' Wayne link, maybe even Ray Charles.

Well ... eff it. Too tired.

Here she goes.

1. Women confuse me. All of them. Period. This is not directed to anyone, but more to everyone. My mother, the one I love, friends, every freaking one of you. Sorry if that offends you.
2. This car situation. So I'm grateful that my parents are buying me a car. It should be great, yet it's somehow causing stress.
3. This job situation. I'm trying to figure out what's going to happen as I will have two jobs that want me at the same place at the same time. A little bit ago I realized that two jobs might be too much. Too late now.
4. I have a bedroom full of things that I need to get to Arizona, and no concrete plan on how they are going to get there.
5. I'm going to miss Los Angeles. There is stuff here I like to do that I won't be able to do in Tucson.
6. I want to write something fun on this blog but my mind is fried.
7. I burned my leg on the exhaust pipe of my Dad's truck because I was leaning into the back to put a Gatorade back. It doesn't hurt but it's quite annoying.
8. It's Saturday night and I'm in my room writing on a blog. The hell is wrong with me

On a final note ...
this is what I can do.
Ladies, take note. haha (you won't get number 1 on my top friends, it's taken ... sorry)

Mike with the cookies and milk.

Vanessa ... Please!

I usually don't gawk about celebrities or quasi-celebrities, simply because they are just normal people that sing or act somewhat well. But, an exception must be made.

Ok, let's just make a list.

1. She's really good looking.
2. Her dad is Rev Run. You know how sick that is.
3. Her uncle is Russell freakin' Simmons. That's just cool too.
(I check her Myspace, and its "Party Like a Rockstar" c'mon Rev how do you let this happen, but at least its not Run-DMC, because that would be terribly corny)
4. She has mad money. I could stop now but I'll keep going.
5. She is big into fashion and all that stuff. I'm picturing myself at a party surrounded by model chicks as Kimora and Tyra are on stage sharing a toast. [jay] I party with nice girls [/jay]
6. She's not likely to go apeish on you. I mean, she's the Rev's daughter but doesn't give you that - I'm an absolute lunatic under this smile - preacher's girl look.
7. She has a good looking sister. Ya boy havin a rough week, hit him with the, "Oh, want to go chill with Vanessa and Angela this friday" Son would cheer up real quick.
8. Jojo wouldn't do anything to harm your game. Jojo wouldn't be the brother that stays home making sure you don't get yours. He'd probably be at Dave & Busters with his boys or in the studio with Diggy.

No, I'm not planning to make some effort for Vanessa's affection. She's probably way too gassed up for a regular ol' me. That and I'm doing this as a joke, ya know, for fun.

But, Vanessa, if you happen to catch this blog ... accept my damn friend request.

iPhone Thoughts

So after a few weeks, I think I can give an accurate review of the iPhone. Be aware that I love Apple products, and I'm extremely biased.

Texting - Keep in mind that I'm coming from a two year old LG phone, and that I have never used a qwerty keyboard enough to compare. With that said, the touch screen is nice when using the keyboard, and the keys are spaced well for my fingers. If you had fat fingers, I could see it as a problem.

Phone- It's really cool how everything works when you are on a call. You can hold, make a 3-way and all that stuff really easily without much effort. Visual Voicemail is insanely cool and storing contacts is as fun as punching number after number into your phone can be.

Google Maps- This feature is really cool when it works. It can tell you the phone number, website and address of a place instantly. However, sometimes it can't find exactly what you're looking for, especially if it's something not so well known.

Weather- Easy to find, and loads quickly. Really useful. Nuff said.

Safari- The browser is simply amazing. The edge is faster than I thought it would be, and the fact that it loads the whole page is nice too.

iPod- The iPod part is really nice as well. The only thing I don't like is that I can't just put my whole library on the phone, but since I have so much music that isn't going to happen.

Camera- 2 megapixels doesn't sound great, but the pictures come out well. However, if you are in a dark place, or like taking pictures of yourself, you're out of luck.

Overall, the phone is just really really cool. There isn't anything it does that will blow your mind, but everything it does, it does well. I'd describe it similarly as to how I'd describe my iBook, and I absolutely love this laptop.

I'm Gonna Miss LA

Earlier today, I drove down the hill on La Brea, and absolutely zoned out to The Tipping Point.

I stared at all of the lights, and realized everything about the city that I love.

Oh well, next album.

Take Your Pick Vol. A Bunch Of Backpackers

I hate the term backpacker because of it's connotation. Yes, I listen to "that" kind of music, but the connotation of backpacker is someone whole only likes "underground" music and one of the main reasons they like it is because its "underground"

Anyways, a couple of songs, with some dudes you'd see lighting trees with Dave Chappelle on a rooftop somewhere.

Like That - Black Eyed Peas (Feat. Cee Lo, John Legend, Q-Tip, Talib Kweli)

We Can Make It Better - Talib Kweli (Feat. Q-Tip, Rhymefest, Consequence, Kanye West

Take Your Pick Vol. Calm Down

Two of my favorite songs in the history of life. Not much else can be said.

Elevators - Outkast

Respiration- Black Star

This Goes Out To ...

you're beautiful
you're caring
you're smart
you're stylish
you're intelligent (different context than smart)
you're funny
you're perfectly imperfect
you're ... everything

but i don't love you for that

i love you because I just don't feel quite like myself without you.

take it or leave it, but if not, you're still the ...

I'm going to address another epidemic that is plaguing our youth. This is the phenomenon of "extras". Extras are something that is just that, extra. In everyday life, there are certain reactions that are necessary, and other certain reactions that are unneccessary. The latter of the two can be classified under the umbrella of extras.

For example, one might be at a party and see a pretty young lady. This young lady might be scantily clad for the dress code of the night. She MIGHT be attractive to one in low lighting. She might, at one point in the night, decide that it is appropriate to "p-pop on a handstand", at which point one might deem it necessary to congratulate her on her skilled display of athleticism and flexibility. The method of congratulation might be a high five on her previously presented glutes. She might have noticed one's seemingly stealthy actions and decide they were inappropriate. She might then decide to follow one through the party until she got one's attention, proceed to fill one's ear with high-pitched yelling and screaming, and finally, begin to slap said anonymous partygoer.

The slap, folks, as I understand by most people's standards, is EXTRA, and therefore should never have taken place. All i'm saying is that you might wanna look over your shoulder more often, to avoid extra people, and extra situations.

Take Your Pick Vol. Mad Music

You know you want to ...

There are those times when you feel like it can't go any worse and you need that one song to take your anger to that next level.

So ... with that ... vote on which one you like better, which one gets your blood boiling more, or both, just specify.

Spaceship - Kanye West (Feat. GLC & Consequence)

Renegade - Jay-Z & Eminem (btw, I love having divorced parents :D)

What does it mean when most of my "mad music" playlist is is Eminem. Not a commentary, just and observation. Peace.

4th of July

Yeah, it's true, that is a holiday for white people and we shouldn't celebrate it because we were enslaved a long time ago.

That all sounds good, but I'm just not uppity enough to go along with that. Yes, America has enslaved my people, and my Father's generation had to go to separate water fountains and wash rooms. But, I haven't experienced a whole lot of racism in my life. Sure, I've run into a few ignant folks along the way, and I do realize that black folks are disadvantaged from birth because of the whole not being allowed to read and learn for damn near three centuries.

[Stephen A. Smith] How-evvaahhh [/Stephen A. Smith]
I can't change anything that happened in the past. All I can do is try my hardest to make my future the best that it can possibly be. So in my quest to do that, I have no time to worry about the past, but rather to look into the future

Take Your Pick Vol. Featuring Nas

Before I try to be swift with my words, let me point out how good of a spot Nas looks like he's in. Holding his crotch, bottle in hands, eyes already glazed, huge chain around his neck.

So Nas is really good when he can pick beats that work. When he doesn't he has boring and inconsistent albums. But, since he didn't pick these beats, we'll leave that along. I really don't know how you pick, at all.

We Major - Kanye West (Feat. Nas & Really Doe)

Why You Hate The Game - The Game (Feat. Nas & Marcia Ambrosius of Floetry)

Hit the comments.

Take Your Pick Vol. Kanye

"Cocky Muh*ucka"

Say what you want, Kanye might be all of those things to an extent, but he can flip a sample and drop some witty words over it. Add to that the remarkable consistency and you have what looks like a 3rd consecutive solid album from a "producer." And, if you want him to shut up then you're gonna have to get him to stop making great music, good luck with that.

Last Call

Vote in the comments, this needs to be routine.

Conclusion Time ...

I ain't grown ...

There is no point in me trying to act like an adult when I'm only 18. I need to have fun while I can because who knows how long I'll have the freedom that I have at the moment.

So, to everyone who takes themselves too seriously or deals with stress that they don't need to deal with, take a deep breath and appreciate your life, because worrying about it just makes you end up with a few less tomorrows.
